Bonnie Claire NV sprang up in 1904 and has also been known by Montana Station and Thorp. Like many of these old mining towns, there’s not much left but ruins and the abandoned mine. There are several stone foundations scattered around a couple square mile radius, the old mill, and remnants of a still standing long stone wall that runs the length of a mountain next to the dry lake bed. The Bonnie Claire playa also has a unique attraction: like the Racetrack in Death Valley, it has “moving rocks” that seem to slide along the playa surface.
