Glacier National Park is obviously not part of the American Southwest (too far north). But, because of the beauty of this area, the impressive expanse and remoteness showing the “Wild West” I thought I’d include it in my blog.

Glacier NP covers almost 1,600 square miles in northern Montana, bordering the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia. There are over 700 miles of known hiking trails. The main road cutting through the park is Going-to-the-Sun Road, and after you drive it, you’ll realize how appropriate the name is. The park has over 130 lakes, two mountain ranges and over 1,000,000 acres of wilderness.

This area is a wonderland for nature and animal lovers. Known animals include moose, grizzly bears, the rare wolverine, mountain goats, lynx, wolves, hundreds of bird species and many more.
