Inscription Canyon is an incredible location, with hundreds of petroglyphs and even a few (very) faded pictographs. Some of the artwork is amazing, showcasing many different styles. This area was used for hundreds of years by the ancient people, with the dating of some of the area’s rock art going back 8,000 years. Inscription Canyon is at the far edge of the Superior Valley and over the centuries has been inhabited by Southern Paiute, Shoshone, the Kawaiisu and others.

I met Sam Hunter at Inscription Canyon about ten years ago. His interesting story of the petroglyphs being the record of an ancient battle of paleo-indian tribes was amazing.
