The Keystone Thrust trail is located within the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. This is an area where you can experience – hands-on – a location where two continental plates come together. This “shoving match” has resulted in a geological fault, with several different rock layers.
The trail itself is a rather short 2.4 mile out & back hike. While it’s a shorter hike, it does contain a decent amount of elevation gain. So, it’s generally rated as a “moderately strenuous” hike. Along the way, keep your eyes open for an old, ancient agave roasting pit.
