Lake Mead is a very large lake in Nevada and Arizona. It was formed by damming part of the Colorado river and covers an area roughly 120 miles long. It’s probably most famous for the Hoover Dam. Lake Mead bills itself as “America’s most diverse National Recreation Area,” covering 1.5 million acres of mountains, canyons, and two very large lakes (Lake Mohave being the other lake). The section of Lake Mead in this gallery is a pretty remote location (north of the Catclaw Wash area), requiring 70 miles of off-roading (through some very rough spots) coming from Gold Butte. It’s a beautiful and isolated part of the lake.
