The Lewis and Clark Caverns is a state park in Jefferson County, Montana. This might seem like an odd choice for a blog about the American Southwest and Desert. But, it seemed natural to include, due to its connections to exploration, the Wild West and Native American heritage.
These limestone caverns are extensive and contain some of the most impressive stalagmites and stalactites known. The caverns are named after the first non-Native Americans to see these caverns, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, of the famed Lewis & Clark exploration.
