The Mountain Springs area of the La Madre mountain range contain several very large agave roasting pits, with many of these pits located right next to each other (or in very close proximity). They’re still very well-formed & their size and sheer amount of them indicate this was a well-used location by the ancient people. When the limestone heats up, it turns brittle and white.

outstanding. I was researching them because I started blundering on them while hiking. It ook many good pictures and videos and was “pretty sure” they were agave roasting pits.
