The Seven Keyhole Alcove is separated from the rest of the nearby rock art, including Kirk’s Grotto, Seven Keyhole Canyon and the natural, but still amazing Mojave Monument…Easter Island in the Desert. This is a cool location, higher up on the butte, out of the main wash. And, also under a protected ledge. The area behind the main panel is protected, too, with evidence of usage. When I visited this location, the late afternoon sun was cutting right across the main rock art panel. So, the panel is half in shadow and half in direct afternoon sun…it made for a difficult time trying to photograph the panel.
