Spring Valley is located within the La Madre Mountains, outside of the Red Rock National Conservation Area (I’ve also seen this site called Lone Grapevine Springs). There’s tons to explore in this area. Spring Valley has multiple spring sources and lots of rock art (both petroglyphs and pictographs), agave roasting pits and some old shelters (including lithic scatter). I’ve even come across some fossilized corral and petrified wood. Some of these petroglyphs are rather interesting, in that there are depictions of what appears to be a shooting star (at least that’s what it looks like to me) and a horse and buggy (perhaps memorializing the first settlers coming West?).
